The Supernatural Fan Article Challenge

Article Banks
writer at work

I was involved in a project that grew out of my control and gobbled up any free time I had. And, while I love SPN, I also love eating and paying my bills.

While the project isn't finished, it's slowed down enough for me to devote a little more time to fun stuff. :D

Write Some Articles

All over the Internet, there are these lovely sites called "article banks" that are visited by millions of people every day. People just like you and me can submit articles to these sites.

I know there are SPN fans who love to write essays and articles about the show and share them with other fans.

So why not share them with the world.

I know lots of people have started "SOS" (Save Our Show) campaigns for SPN. And I admire their dedication. But, while sending postcards and signing petitions has it's merits, I think spreading interest in the show to potential viewers is just as important.

And you can do that by posting articles and essays at these article banks.

What Can You Write About?

What should your article or essay be about?

* Reviews of the show, individual episodes, the DVD's, etc.
* Articles about the actors.
* Articles analyzing the characters.
* Spoiler articles. (Apparantly, Associated Content loves spoiler articles).
* Articles comparing SPN to other shows.
* Commentary-type articles. Like, you can explore SPN's take on urban legends, religion, family, sex, etc.
* The ten best SPN episodes so far.
* The episodes new viewers must see.
* The show's fanbase.
* Favorite quotes from the show.
* Anything else that comes to mind.

Article Bank Links

Below are links to just a few of the article banks I know of that take entertainment articles. These are all in the top 25 of the most popular article banks. I'll add more later. If you know of any more, tell me about them in the comments below.

You can submit the same article to many different sites.

And remember, if you submit an article and it gets published, tell us about it here, with a link.

Happy writing.

SPN E-mag
A few days ago I put up a post on the dean_sam comm asking whether people would be interested in a Supernatural fan E-mag (Ezine). A few people replied and so I decided I'd give it a shot. I'd need some serious help though ;) If ANYONE is interested in writing articles, maybe making exclusive graphics/icons, letting me know which fics people have liked so we could include links in the E-mag etc please contact me through one of the mediums below.

I think this could be a great way to get interesting things from the fandom over to people who can't be online enough to look through everything posted in all the great comms on LJ/other sites or even to help introduce newcomers to the fandom, as well as just be a generally interesting read for all of us who read tens - okay, I'll admit it, hundreds - of SPN posts every week *wink*. It may even be a good promotion tool for Supernatural, and we all know how much promoting the show needs. And who knows, maybe we could wrangle the guys into an exclusive interview at Asylum. Well, a gal can dream, right?

Even if you're not sure what you could/would want to do but still would like to help, let me know. It'd be great if we could get a core team of 3 or 4 people to help decide what to go into the E-mag and as many others as possible to submit articles/artwork/keep a list of popular fics etc.

The SPN Squidoo Challenge

Maybe you've heard of Squidoo

Squidoo is a site where you create things called Lens Page. And lenses are becoming very popular.

A Lens Page is basically a page devoted to the topic of your choice designed to give visitors links and resources based on that topic. You can also create polls, show YouTube vids on your page, and lots of other stuff.

Here are some lenses.

Draco and Jenny Fanfiction

How To Be a Fangirl

Tom Welling Mania

You can create a Squidoo on any topic, whether broad or specific.

And here's the cool part.

Squidoo lens pages make money. The more visitors your page has, the more money your page makes. And that money can be donated directly to the charity of your choice.

So, here's your challenge.

1. Create an SPN related Squidoo. It can be about the show, the actors, the characters, the music, fanfiction, blogs, reviews, fanvids...anything you can think of.

2. When you're finished (or even if you're only almost finished) post a link to your lens, and let us know which charity your donating to.

Sounds like fun, huh?

Let me know if you're interested in taking this challenged. I'd love to see what kinds of lenses SPN fans could come up with.

And be sure to let your fellow SPN fans know about this challenge. The more the better!

The Associated Content Article Challenge
writer at work
This is the one that started it all. And it's all very simple really.

Associated Content is an article site that pays (anywhere from $3 to $20) for articles submitted to them. And, apparantly, a person's chances of selling an article to them are very high.

I've actually seen quite a few SPN-related articles there (which is how I found the site), but there could always be more. :D

So, here's your challenge.

1. Write an article that's somehow related to SPN, and is at least 400 words. You can write seemingly anything:

* Reviews of the show, individual episodes, the DVD's, etc.
* Articles about the actors.
* Spoiler article. (Apparantly, Associated Content loves spoiler articles).
* Articles comparing SPN to other shows.
* Commentary-type articles. Like, you can explore SPN's take on urban legends, religion, family, sex, etc.
* Anything else that comes to mind.

2. Submit your article to Associated Content.

3. If your article gets accepted post a link to it. You can also tell us how much you got paid. You know, if you want.

 And that's it.

Let me know what you think, and if you're interested in taking the challenge.
